Fiesta de Libros are bilingual literacy clubs hosted on a weekly basis at different schools and participant housing sites. This program was created to bring joy to reading through books and fun activities. We read bilingual books written and illustrated by Latine authors and artists for students to see themselves through the stories we read, as well as support in reducing home language attrition. The mentors that serve book parties are representative of the students' identities, they are native Spanish speakers.

Each week we run six book parties in total. Four of them at the school sites (Alderwood, Birchwood, and Cordata Elementary), and two of them at the housing sites (Eliza/Sterling and Villa Santa Fe). Our lesson plan is the same for all of the Book Parties. This allows all the students to have the opportunity to read the same book and do the same activity.

All activities are based on the book that was read. Activities vary from doing arts and crafts to playing games that help the kids connect even more to literacy.

To make Book Parties possible at the school sites Vamos partners with the Bellingham Public School district. Vamos has a Leadership member at the school that works as a liaison between the school, students, and parents. By working closely with the BPSD Vamos is able to support family engagement, with the specific goal of building Latine, Migrant, and MLL participation in after-school and enrichment activities. Vamos helps lower barriers to access afterschool/enrichment as well as support families in building capacity to navigate access.
