BUILDING COMMUNITY THROUGH CONNECTION TO THE LAND AND ACCESS TO THE OUTDOORS

Upcoming Events

  • Community Bike Day

On Sunday, April 7th, like each year, we hosted an event called Community Bike Day. We host this event twice a year, one in the Spring and another one in the summer. The purpose of our event is to bring a day of joy to the families that live at Eliza. This location gets left out from community events and it's a great opportunity to bring the community to them. We also appreciate offering a space where parents can see their kids participate in enrichment activities like biking and socialize with neighbors and nearby neighborhoods like Villa Santa Fe, Sterling Meadows and Maplewood.

Developmental justice for Latine youth through outdoor & academic programs

Vamos Outdoors Project is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) serving Latine, Migrant, Multilingual, and Newcomer youth and families in Whatcom and Skagit counties. Through our outdoor and academic programs, we foster healthy habits, socio-emotional learning, positive childhood experiences and relationships with our mentors. Our goal is to reduce the barriers preventing the Latine community from accessing outdoor recreation, support youth development and connect families with resources.

Programs

Vamos offers a range of outdoor, academic, and recreational programs to Latine youth in Whatcom and Skagit county. All of our programs are free of cost to participants and they include transportation, food, and all necessary gear and equipment. Programs are supported by representational staff and mentors, which allows participants to make connections, take risks, and build confidence.

Who We Are

Vamos is a non-hierarchical, community-based organization comprised of a leadership team, youth mentors and a board of directors. Vamos staff and leadership are all paid the same compensatory living wage and share a voice in Vamos’ vision.

Get Involved

Vamos relies on volunteer support to run our organization! This is an opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the lives of Latine Youth and participate in joyful experiences. Wether it is working with youth or supporting our leadership team, your time is the most valuable donation!
